Currencies
TumelLife lets you record expenses in any currency and keeps each one separate, so your totals stay accurate wherever you are spending.
Your default currency
You have a default currency in your profile. New expenses start with this currency selected, so if you usually spend in one currency you rarely need to change it. You can update your default currency any time from your profile settings.
Changing the currency for one expense
When you add or edit an expense, the Currency field lets you pick a different currency for that expense alone. This is handy when you travel or buy something in another currency. It does not change your default.
Currencies are never mixed
TumelLife does not convert between currencies. Instead, it totals each currency on its own. So if you spent in two currencies this month, you will see two separate totals, one for each. The same is true for every past month in your history.
This is a deliberate choice. Exchange rates change constantly, and guessing them would make your totals less trustworthy. Keeping each currency separate means every figure you see is exact.
Common questions
Can TumelLife convert my expenses into one currency? No. It keeps each currency separate and does not apply exchange rates.
How do I change the currency I usually use? Update your default currency in your profile settings. Existing expenses keep the currency they were saved with.
