Shared expenses

If you share a workspace with your partner, family or a small team, the expenses added there are visible to everyone in it. This makes it easy to keep track of shared spending together.

How sharing works

In TumelLife, sharing happens at the workspace level. An expense added inside a shared workspace can be seen by all the members of that workspace. An expense added in your personal My Life workspace stays private to you. There is no separate setting to make a single expense private or shared. What decides it is simply which workspace you are in when you add it.

Adding a shared expense

  1. Make sure the shared workspace is selected at the top of the screen.
  2. Go to Money, open the Expenses tab and tap + Add.
  3. Fill in the expense and tap Save.

Everyone in the workspace will see the new expense, and the shared totals update for all of you.

Keeping shared and personal spending apart

Because the workspace decides who can see an expense, it is worth glancing at which workspace is showing before you add something. If you add a personal expense while a shared workspace is open, the others will see it. To keep it private, switch to your My Life workspace first.

Totals in a shared workspace

Shared expenses are totalled the same way as personal ones. You see the current month's total at the top, per currency, and every past month is kept in the history below. The totals reflect everything added by all the members of the workspace.

Common questions

Can I see who added an expense? Shared workspaces keep an activity history of changes, which helps everyone stay in the loop about what was added.

Can I make one expense private inside a shared workspace? No. Everything in a shared workspace is visible to its members. For something private, add it in your My Life workspace instead.
