Savings goals
A savings goal is something you are putting money aside for. Set a target, add contributions as you go, and watch the progress build.
Creating a goal
Tap Money in the bottom navigation, choose the Savings tab, then tap + Add goal. Give it a name, set a target amount, and choose the currency you will save in. You can add an optional target date and a note about what the goal is for.
Adding contributions
Open the goal and tap + Add contribution. Enter the amount and the date. The currency is fixed to the goal's own currency, so you do not need to choose it.
Each contribution is saved as its own record. Tap the contribution count on a goal to see the full history, with the date and amount of every contribution you have made. In a shared workspace each one shows who added it.
Watching your progress
Every goal shows how much you have saved, your target, a progress bar and how much is left to go. Once you reach the target it simply says the goal is reached.
The amount saved is always worked out by adding up your contributions, so it can never drift out of step with your history. If you delete a contribution, the total updates straight away.
One currency per goal
Each goal saves in a single currency, chosen when you create it. This keeps the progress meaningful, since TumelLife never converts between currencies. If you want to save toward something similar in another currency, create a second goal for it.
Editing and deleting
Tap the pencil to change a goal's name, target or target date. The currency cannot be changed after the goal is created.
Tap the bin to delete a goal. If it has contributions, TumelLife tells you how many and how much they add up to, and asks you to type the goal name to confirm. This is deliberate: deleting a goal also deletes its contribution history, and that cannot be undone.
Common questions
Does saving money count as an expense? No. Contributions to a savings goal are tracked separately and are never counted as spending.
Why can I not add a contribution in a different currency? Because the goal has one currency and TumelLife does not convert between them. Adding a different currency would make the progress meaningless.
