Workspace permissions

In a shared workspace, everyone can add and see content, while a few actions belong to the owner. Here is how that works.

Owners and members

Each shared workspace has an owner, the person who created it, and members, the people invited to it. Everyone can view the workspace and add to it, which is the point of sharing.

What everyone can do

All members can see everything in the workspace and add their own tasks, expenses, groceries, reminders, notes, meals and cleaning items. Everyone stays in sync in real time.

What the owner can do

The owner manages the workspace itself. That includes renaming it, inviting people, removing a member, and deleting the workspace. The owner can also hand the workspace over to someone else. See Transfer ownership.

Leaving and being removed

A member can choose to leave a workspace at any time, and an owner can remove a member. See Leave a workspace and Remove a member.

Common questions

Can a member delete the workspace? No. Deleting a workspace is the owner's action. A member can leave instead.

Can there be more than one owner? Ownership rests with one person, but it can be transferred to another member.
